WWII. U-BOAT NAVIGATION GLOBE BY E. SCHOTTE & CO

A rare celestial globe from the Third Reich for U-Boat 539, stands on 3 legs in Kriegsmarine gray.
A beautiful colorful globe with stars, constellations, and all the signs of the zodiac.
The globe has twenty-four lacquered gores with the signs of the zodiac depicted in blue, the color of the sea.
Signed in the cartouche on the globe itself and on the horizon ring; Nautische Werkstatten GMBH Kiel.
A mellow yellow Bakelite ring provides the longitude degrees markings.
The meridian ring with slider, which displays a degree scale, so you can read your geographic position, is made of plexiglass.
Transport box with dovetail joint and Kriegsmarine mark 24 x 24 X 21 cm.
In the last image a similar globe is visible in the left corner near the chronometer in the captain’s cabin.
Condition:
Rare piece for display, but also for regular use!
Chest light signs of use.
No damage or cracks, near mint globe.
