Kriegsmarine 8x60 U-Boat Commander's Binoculars
A special series commissioned by the Kriegsmarine and manufactured by Carl Zeiss.
The binoculars come complete in the original transport case, marked BLC with accessories.
Accessories include: the original rubber eyecups, recognizable by the metal band, the adapter, cleaning brush, and lens cloth.
The original detachable tripod holder or adapter is for mounting on the deck of a U-boat or for use on a tripod; usually, the adapter is not included or missing!
The lenses are crystal clear and offer a spectacular, high-quality image.
The quality of these binoculars remains unmatched by most modern handheld binoculars to this day.
The binoculars bear the inscription '8 x 60' and the naval number '2084950', indicating that these binoculars were produced in a run of 300 units in February 1941.
This is one of the rarest binoculars, difficult to find in the complete version with case.
Condition:
Little to no use, almost mint!
External black Rauhlack covering is in superb condition.
The blue coating is pristine.
No lens scratches or chips.
Aiming sight in the right eyepiece.
Both impressive eyepieces rotate smoothly for adjustment.
The binoculars still have their original rubber eyecups, recognizable by a thin metal band around the rubber.
Very hard to find these days, they both have matching numbers 10866!!
The binoculars come with service history, the have been cleaned and collimated.
The lenses provide an excellent clear picture and are a delight to use.
High quality for daily use.
