A very delicate brass-gilded Danish tell-tale compass.
On the glass dome in gilded inscription: ‘Kaperkutter Johanne von Kopenhagen 1810’
with a picture of a cutter under full sail.
Very delicate and whole compass chart.
The chart consists of a cartouche in the middle, surrounded by seven stars
and a classic French lily pointing at the north.
Pictured in the stars are seven figures with the names of the stars in the solar system.
The chart is signed in the cartouche with the monogram ‘OPN: J.F.B. Oppen’
A compass maker from Denmark ca 1794.
Fully complete with original gimballed suspension.
Diameter compass chart 13 cm.
The compass is in museum condition and in perfect working order.
