A very rare gimballed hanging tell-tale compass.
Made and signed by Isaac Bradford of London.
The compass casing is made in a very warm shade of red, adorned with gilded flower motives.
The compass has a museum quality and is in perfect working order.
This type of compass used to hang in the captain’s hut above his bunk.
When the first-in-command went for a rest he could keep an eye on the ship’s course while lying down.
