18th Century Green Shagreen Vellum Telescope

An extraordinary nice maritime telescope consisting of three tube-parts of green vellum.
The first tube is made of splendid quality green shagreen.
The telescope is equipped with sealable eyepiece and objective and has copper rings on the tube-parts.
Design and style are typical for an 18th century English telescope.
The telescope was made around 1770.

Silver Plated Nautical Telescope 19th Century

A very fine telescope with inscription by the Royal Yacht Squadron.
This exclusive yachting club was founded in 1815 in London and counted 42 prominent members who were actively engaged in yachting.
In 1817 Prince George IV was welcomed as a member, in 1820 he became King and so the club was renamed The Royal Yacht Club.
The telescope was made around 1855 during the reign of Queen Victoria.
It’s an attractive flamed rosewood piece and is nicely silver plated.
The telescope consists of three draw tubes and is produced with an retractable sun cap.
Complete with original leather protective casing.
Very fine eyepiece, in good condition with hardly any wear.
It is signed and has the inscription: JF.Browning, Late Stebbing 66 High Street Portsmouth, Opticians to Her Majesty and RYS (Royal Yacht Squadron)
