19TH CENTURY DRY COMPASS

A very nicely crafted sloop compass in original box.
The compass is gimballed and is executed in beautiful red copper.
Made and signed by F.J. Kloos & Son of Rotterdam in the 1850-1875 period.
The compass works like it should.
Height of the box: 13.5 cm (5.5 inches)
Width: 18.5 cm (7.5 inches)
Very nice condition.

Ship’s Compass Signed Wilson London Ca. 1790

An unusual wooden ship’s compass in the shape of a mushroom.
The compass has been gimballed and is provided with a dry map.
The whole is mounted in a wooden body with an inbuilt oil lamp as a source of light at the front.
The elegant chimney, which helps transport the heat, is also mushroom-shaped.
The compass is equipped with a nice rose and in good working order.

The ‘Lopan’ Dry Astrological Compass

Big 18th century Lopan, diameter 37 cm.
In the middle there’s a plain compass card used in navigation, with 24 compass points.
The compass consists of a great number of concentric rings.
Visible on these rings are wind directions, heavenly bodies, planets and the signs of the Chinese Zodiac, a.o. 
In good condition.

LARGE SHIP’S COMPASS BY JAMES MORTON, 19TH CENTURY

A beautifully made gimballed compass in mahogany case.
The compass is signed and made by James Morton.
It’s practically as good as new on the inside as well as on the outside.
The dry map is of a high quality and in fine condition.
Nicely signed and embellished with the coat of arms of the United Kingdom.
The compass is closed by a detachable glass dome.
