Rare German W.W.2 Kriegsmarine chronometer with serial number 4278.
Specially made for the Kriegsmarine and delivered in July 1944.
Very handsome mahogany wood box with piano hinge and dismountable pen, the box and clock are in beautiful condition.
The box has the hour work serial number stamped in the edge.
At the front of the box there is a plate with Marine number M. 3769.
It is exceptional that the plate with the Marine number is still on the box, as a rule they were instantly removed after the war.

The clock sits in a bowl of black Bakelite and rests in a gimbaled ring.
The bottom of the Bakelite bowl is cast iron, punched in is a German eagle and Marine number M.3769.
Clock-face with Arabic numerals, second-hand, and a day indicator from 0 to 56 hours.
This clock runs for ca .2½ days, and shows on the clock-face for how long it will run before it has to be wound up.
This was important because the clock was never allowed to stop!
Perfect working order, the clock runs nice and smooth and on time (power reserve 58 hours).
Original wind-up key is present, also present a small second key to set the clock on time via the hands,
you do not do this with your fingers.
Size mahogany wood box:
18½ cm x 18½ cm x 18½ cm.
